13500 emplois directs et indirects vont être généré par cette initiative,  l'un des plus grands projets hydroélectriques depuis 25 ans en Europe. Le gouvernement portugais a donné son feu vert. En plus de ce projet de 1200 MW au Portugal, IBERDOLA va également construire une station de pompage/turbinage de 800 MW en Espagne. Les stations de pompage-turbinage permettent de gèrer l'intermittence de la production des centrales éoliennes et  solaires.

En France, toutes les capacités de pompage turbinage sont utilisées par le nucléaire.  Au Portugal, il faut moins de 6 mois pour obtenir un permis de construire éolien. En France, 12 ans...Ne cherchez plus docteur...
